Revolutionizing Foundry Equipment since 1974

AFW Foundry Inc. Expands Their Foundry Operation

AFW Foundry, Inc. (Lannon, WI) is a family owned non-ferrous jobbing foundry established in 1953 by Albert Gerstmeier and is currently run by his son Robert. AFW's molding capabilities include squeezer, cope and drag, no-bake and a new DISA Match 130 with a 20 x 24 flask size. Casting sizes range from a few ounces up to 300 pounds.

In order to meet the customers' demand for high quality castings, AFW needed to expand its foundry operations. A new DISA Match 130 Matchplate Molding Machine was selected to produce the molds with a new Summit Mold Handling System," said Brian Gerstmeier, Vice President and third generation foundryman.

Summit Foundry Systems was selected as the main contractor for the design, engineering and installation of the equipment. STOTEK from Denmark was chosen for the melting and autopour system to handle the increased metal demand from the DISA 130.

Conveyor Dynamics Corporation supplied all the vibratory foundry equipment including a mold dump conveyor, a balanced and isolated medium frequency vibratory shakeout, and a casting transfer/sorting conveyor. The conveyors and shakeout were all rubber lined so as not to scratch any of the delicate castings.

AFW selected DIDION International for their Rotary Lump Crusher / Sand Reclaimer for conditioning, reclamation, and screening the sand. Since AFW already owned a DIDION Rotary Reclaimer and were very happy with the quality of the returned sand, this was an easy choice.
